After breakfast at your accommodation, at 9:00 AM, you’ll set off to discover the delights of the Ourika Valley in Morocco Atlas Mountains on a 1 day trip from Marrakech to Ourika Valley. The Ourika Valley, carved out by rain washing down from the High Atlas Mountains, is now a fertile area where fruit and nut trees grow. Following the course of the Ourika River, you’ll admire the magnificent landscape of the High Atlas, which is completely different from that of Marrakech. You will see white-capped peaks towering over the valley and traditional villages nestled on the hillsides.
Along the way, you’ll visit a traditional Berber house to enjoy mint tea with the locals and learn about their old and simple lifestyle. If your visit falls on a Monday or Thursday, you may also have the opportunity to explore the weekly Berber market. Your guide will take you to discover the breathtaking waterfalls in Setti Fatma and enjoy a hike through the picturesque Ourika Valley, carved into the Atlas’ foothills.
For lunch, you’ll pass by a charming old footbridge to dine at one of the traditional restaurants by the river. On our way back to Marrakech, we will make a final stop at a women cooperative producing argan oil. The drive is quite short! It only takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the valley from Marrakech, making this one of the most relaxing and accessible day trips offered by Culture Morocco Tours.
You do not need professional hiking boots, but we highly recommend wearing comfortable, sturdy sneakers with good grip. The path up to the Setti Fatma waterfalls can be rocky and occasionally slippery.
