Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Your adventure begins in Fes with an early departure toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” where European-style architecture and cool mountain air create a striking contrast with Fes. Continue through the cedar forests around Azrou, where you may encounter Barbary macaques before traveling deeper into the Atlas landscape. The scenery gradually changes as you descend toward the Ziz Valley, where dramatic cliffs frame one of southern Morocco’s most beautiful palm-filled landscapes. By late afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. As the sun begins to fall, meet your camel guides and ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watch the desert change color as the sun disappears beyond the horizon. Arrive at your desert camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner, local music around the campfire and an unforgettable night beneath the stars. Overnight stay in the desert camp.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Experience

Wake early for one of the defining moments of the journey: sunrise over the Sahara. Watch the first rays of sunlight illuminate the dunes before returning to camp for breakfast. Today is dedicated to discovering the desert region at a relaxed pace. Explore the surroundings of Merzouga and experience local desert culture. Depending on your interests, the day can include visits to traditional villages, a stop to listen to Gnawa music, panoramic viewpoints over the dunes, and time to discover the unique landscapes around Erg Chebbi, and discover how nomadic communities have adapted to life in this harsh but beautiful environment. Return to Merzouga for a peaceful afternoon. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 3: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After breakfast, leave the Sahara behind and begin your journey west. Travel through the dramatic desert landscapes toward Erfoud, a historic trading center and an important gateway between the Sahara and Morocco’s interior. Continue through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco toward the famous Todra Gorge. Here, enormous limestone cliffs rise dramatically on either side of the narrow valley. Take a walk through the gorge and enjoy the cool atmosphere created by the towering rock walls. Continue toward the Dades Valley, known for its red rock formations, winding mountain roads and traditional kasbahs. Stop at scenic viewpoints along the famous Dades landscape before reaching your accommodation. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, continue through the legendary Valley of Roses and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. The journey takes you through villages, palm groves and fortified mud-brick architecture that characterizes southern Morocco. Arrive in Ouarzazate, often associated with Morocco’s film industry. Continue to the spectacular Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most recognizable fortified villages. Explore the narrow lanes and traditional earthen buildings of the kasbah before enjoying time to photograph the surrounding landscape. Later, continue toward the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass. The road climbs through dramatic mountain scenery before descending toward Marrakech. Overnight stay in the Riad.
