3 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Desert of Merzouga

We will pick you up from your Riad or Hotel at 08:00 am and drive south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop at the cedar forests to see Barbary apes in their natural habitat. Continuing through the Tizi Ntalghamt passageway to Midelt and the magnificent Ziz Gorges, carved from volcanic rock, you’ll witness the Middle Atlas plateau scenery gradually changing to reveal hints of the desert as we approach Errachidia.

After lunch, we will journey through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and finally Merzouga. Merzouga is a small, enchanting village, considered one of the gateways to the Sahara. After enjoying a glass of mint tea, we’ll leave our luggage in a secure room, and then embark on a camel trek. The camels will take us to a Berber camp in the middle of an oasis amidst the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, which stretches 20 km long and 5 km wide and is renowned for having the highest sand dunes in North Africa.

The camel trek takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the camp, where we’ll set up in well-equipped Berber tents for a magical night in the desert. As the sun sets behind the dunes, you’ll enjoy a traditional nomadic Berber dinner. Day 3: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After delicious breakfast at your hotel, we’ll drive from Dades Valley towards Kelaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through the Dades Valley, known as the “Way of the Thousand Kasbahs,” offers numerous photo opportunities. We will visit the Rose Valley and the village of Skoura before continuing to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.”

We will have lunch at the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the largest kasbah in Morocco. After touring this UNESCO World Heritage Site, our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka passageway, reaching an altitude of 2260 meters over the High Atlas Mountains. The mountain scenery and natural beauty create a breathtaking setting. We will stop to enjoy the impressive views and visit an argan oil cooperative.
